Korean Rapper PSY Is A Pop Culture Phenomenon! [VIDEOS]
K-pop is here, “Gangnam Style”!
Park Jae-Sang, a South Korean rapper, better known as PSY, is an entertainment phenomenon and people can’t get enough of his hit, “Gangnam Style.” His first single debuted in Korea back in 2000 and he has been active in the music scene ever since. His music is widely popular in Korea but he finally made the leep to the United States with his super catchy single and unique dance moves.
The “Gangnam Style” music video was released in mid-July and has received over 50 million views since! Taking the internet by storm, with his singles huge success, PSY has gotten the attention of celebrities like Katy Perry, Josh Groban, T-Pain, Nelly Furtado, and even Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun. Being on Billboard’s K-Pop Hot 100 chart four weeks in a row definitely grabs people’s attention!
PSY has done a lot of press here in the United States and people can’t seem to get enough of him. In interviews, he explains that Gangnam is actually a place in Korea similar to Beverly Hills and that it has it’s own style. So he uses his expressive dance moves to show that “Gangnam Style.” Check out the widely colorful and crazy music video below!

The rapper was recently spotted in Los Angeles. He was reported to have a meeting with Scooter Braun to talk about a possible music deal/collaboration. He took some free time out of his busy schedule and was spotted at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. They played his music and even put him on the jumbotron!
PSY seems to be very happy with the success “Gangnam Style” is having here in the U.S. and it’s one of the first K-pop singles to make the huge international leap to be an overnight success here. We’re excited to see more!
