Hey Directioners, we’ve got good news!
One Direction sold out two shows, August 7th and 8th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles…tickets sold out in record time, even though the concerts are not until 2013 and fans have been begging for more! Well, the guys have taken this begging very seriously…
They Have Added Another LA Date!
Niall was excited to announce: “We are going to be coming back and we’re playing a third date at Staples Center on August 9th. We’re super excited, we love coming to LA. California’s just a great place. We’ve obviously spent a lot of time there recording and doing shows there too. So, it’s good to always come back. When we heard that a lot of people wanted us to come back we said, ‘Let’s do another show!'”
Niall continues, “It’s crazy…it’s so mind-blowing to us how we’re touring the world the next couple of years and how quick everything sold out it just shows the dedication of our fans and I always say we definitely have the best fans in the world.”
Tickets for the August 9th, 2013 show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA go on sale to the public on September 8th, 2012 at www.ticketmaster.com
Niall also took some time to chat about One Direction’s new album, performing at VMAs, Demi Lovato, and clears up some rumors!
On Liam’s Birthday Party:
There was a story recently that band mate Liam Payne had his birthday party and Niall was not allowed in, because the bouncer didn’t recognize him…did this really happen? “No, that’s a lie,” Niall says. “I just walked in to the place where it was. I stopped at the bouncer and he gave me a wristband. So, I didn’t have any trouble getting in, but you know what it’s like…the press just kind of makes up stuff.”
On His Relationship with Demi Lovato:
“We’re just really good friends. Hats off to her, she’s been doing well. She’s been updating me on what she’s doing and hopefully I will get to see her next week when we come to LA for the VMAs,” he tells us. So, have Niall and Demi ever met in person? “We actually haven’t met yet, but hopefully I get to see her next week.”
On Performing At The Upcoming VMAs:
“It’s going to be really fun. Obviously we’re nominated for 2 awards as well, which is absolutely incredible. If we were to bring home one of them, it would be unbelievable,” Niall tells us. The guys are up against The Wanted and Carly Rae Jepsen for Best New Artist…So, who does Niall think will take home the Moon Man? “I don’t know. We’re very lucky, we’ve got very dedicated fans. Everyone is telling me online that they’ve been voting and stuff, so hopefully we can bring back one.”
On The New Album:
“We’ve been working on that, it’s not too different from the first one. We’ve been very, very happy about it. Because we’re obviously nervous, the 2nd album you never know what you’re going to get from it. But we’re really excited about it, it’s really fun, very heavy on guitars and drums, so we’re super excited about it.”
There has been a rumor that Taylor Swift may be lending her vocals to the new album, is this true? “No, we haven’t worked with Taylor, but that new song that she’s got ‘Never Get Back Together.’ I actually don’t even know then name, I just heard it on the radio yesterday.” Niall tweeted: “Just been listening to radio! @TaylorSwift new song is amazing! Tuuuuuneee”
So, what collaborations can fans expect? “Today we’ve been with Ed Sheeran, because we’re quite good friends with him. So, we work quite a bit with him. We worked with some English guys like a band called McFly, we worked quite a bit with them. Then we’ve obviously gone back to the original guys who did ‘What Makes You Beautiful‘ and ‘One Thing‘ from out first album like Rami [Yacoub], Carl [Falk], and Savan [Kotecha]. They are doing well on the charts in America at the moment. So, we’ve gone back to them guys to get some more songs off them. We obviously try to keep that relationship with people we’ve worked with on previous albums.”
On The Album Title:
The upcoming album titled Take Me Home is scheduled to drop in November. Which one of the guys came up with the title? Niall explains, “We kind of got it together ourselves. We thought about it for a while. Because we we all would do a lot of traveling around the world and we get to see a lot of cool places, but the main thing is there’s no place like home. It’s always kind of nice to go home.” The new single “Live While We’re Young” comes out October 1st, so could Niall spill any details? “Nah, I’m not going to give it away. We’ve been working on it for a while.”
