Christina Aguilera Dishes on Mariah Carey & Britney Spears [AUDIO]
5 time Grammy award winner Christina Aguilera called in to “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to chat about her new single “Your Body,” her upcoming album Lotus, “The Voice,” and tells us how she really feels about the other divas in the judges chairs.
On Mariah Carey & Britney Spears:
“I welcome them on to the TV family, it’s a fun place to be. I know that our shows all have different formats and everything, but in all honesty we’ve been in this business together for a long time. I have nothing but ultimate respect for Britney and Mariah and what they do and what they can vying and offer to the table. There’s room for all of us divas on tv.”
On The Music Video for ‘Your Body’
In the video for “Your Body” the singer dons pink high heels, a sexy black dress, and a baseball bat. “I got to keep things a little exciting, enticing, fun, and got to get you guessing. I’m so excited to release it. I’m actually in the finishing touches of the editing process right now. It’s very tongue-in-cheek, very playful, it’s very fun. It’s kind of comedic in a way…I’m kind of playing this character it’s very much like a character outside of myself. It’s just fun, it’s like a little mini movie. I don’t want to give too much away!”
The Songs On Lotus:
“Everything has personal meaning. There’s a song specifically dedicated to my fans called ‘Sing For Me‘ that I know they’re going to appreciate. There’s a few great ballads. Collaborating with Sia again on a song called ‘Blank Page.'”
On ‘Moves Like Jagger':
“we kind of went into it, again blindly, I’m a risk taker. I like putting myself out there as long as it’s a passionate project for me and something that I truly believe in…I don’t care if it sells 1 or 1 million records, as long as it’s something that I believe in from go and we’ll see what happens. ‘Moves Like Jagger’ was a blast, it was really fun. For the rest of his career he’s going to have fun doing that on stage, it’s a fun song to perform.”
On ‘Genie In A Bottle’
“There was a certain point in my career where I cringe, I was like, ‘Oh god, I don’t want to go back there.’ Because ‘Stripped’ was my first time I really got to say what I had to say and be the artist that I wanted to be rather than being pushed by a label etc, etc. But I’ve come full circle in my career and I look back on that and smile and thank god that it got my foot in the door and gave me the freedom to do what I do now. I see how just everyone lights up to it also, when I bring it back in one of my sets on stage. I embrace it whole heartedly.”
Christina’s single “Your Body” will be available September 17th and the new album Lotus drops Novemeber 13th.
