Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer called into “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Wednesday to chat about her new movie “Smashed,” how life has changed since winning an Oscar for her role in “The Help,” and she tells us what character she would like to play on “American Horror Story.”

On Watching American Horror Story:
“Let me tell you…you shouldn’t do that at night. Not alone and not late at night, because literally every time you nod off to sleep you think, oh my God, my house has a personality now. I don’t want it to start turning on me. Because that’s when you start paying attention to the creeks and groans, it’s like ‘That wasn’t there before. I think that picture moved!’ You”re mind starts playing tricks on you,” she says.

Octavia continues, “It’s really one of my favorite shows. I’m kind of nervous that the old cast isn’t coming back, but I’m definitely tune in to the new cast.” Creator Ryan Murphy always has a plan to keep things interesting. “Well, I better play a naked nurse on ‘American Horror Story’ at some point…to somebody hot.”

On Life Post Oscar:
“My life is still very small, thank God, I couldn’t have a bigger life. But the career is good. I like being able to walk into rooms and say, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about doing this.’ And people take it seriously, so that’s exciting, very exciting,” she tells us.

On Her New Movie Smashed:
“First of all, I have to applaud James Ponsoldt, the writer/director, for making alcoholism very relatable. Because it follows the life of this young couple, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who is brilliant and Emmy Award-winner Aaron Paul, who is brilliant. Then you pepper in Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally and myself. It’s a pretty spicy, heartbreakingly funny, but heartbreaking at the same time account for what a young couple goes through when they’re battling alcoholism,” Octavia explains.

Smashed opens in these select theaters on Friday, October 12:
