Fergie Shares Black Eyed Peas Secrets With Oprah Winfrey [VIDEOS]
In a rare interview with Oprah Winfrey for “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” the superstar singer shared details on overcoming drug abuse, the future of the Black Eyed Peas, and the time when husband Josh Duhamel was accused of cheating on her with a stripper. If you were unable to catch the interview, here are the highlights from Sunday’s show.
Fergie On Josh’s Rumored Cheating:
When the rumors began, Fergie and Josh sought help from an outside source. “We went to therapy, a lot of therapy and the whole thing became a positive for us,” Fergie said. “Our marriage today, I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Fergie Made Out With Black Eyed Peas Member:
One night on tour, Fergie and Taboo had a little too much to drink. Before you knew it, they were making out. “Will.i.am hears about it the next day and calls a meeting. This is business, this is how groups break up,” Fergie recalls with a laugh.
When asked about a new album from the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie didn’t rule it out. “We are in a break and I’m really enjoying this time with my husband and working from home,” Fergie said. “We don’t ever have to breakup. If we want to make an album, we will make an album.”
Fergie On Her Past Drug Addiction:
Ten years ago, Fergie was broke, unemployed, and addicted to crystal meth. At one point, the singer weighted only 90 pounds. What made her healthy again? “What got me through it was a lot of therapy, soul searching, and discovering why I took the drugs in the first place,” Fergie said. With the help of God, she went to rehab, got clean, and became a member of the Black Eyed Peas.
Josh’s Love For His Wife:
Josh couldn’t help but share why he loves his wife so much. “Obviously I love to watch her perform and I was originally attracted to all the hotness but we grew up in similar ways,” Josh said. “At the end of the day, she is an amazing girl.”
When the topic came to Josh’s rumored cheating, the “Las Vegas” actor was open and honest. “There have been some difficult moments. Now we are stronger than we have been because of that,” Josh said. “It wasn’t an easy period. It turned me into a better man. It put me in check and showed me what kind of man I want to be. Now I’m happy that all that happened. We wouldn’t be as happy as we are now.”
