Social media was a craze last night for the 2012 Election with record-breaking statistics spanning from Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter. Here are a few to remember along with a couple of political firsts and interesting facts:


  • 657,318+ — The record breaking number of retweets now held by President Obama for his celebratory tweet. He also holds the record for most-liked photo (3,457,364+ million) on Facebook for the same image as of Wednesday morning:

  • 31.7 million– The number of tweets posted making last night’s election the most-tweeted-about event in U.S. political history
  • 327,452 — The number of tweets per minute at its peak
  • MittRomney.comGovernor Romney‘s website streamed President Obama’s acceptance speech
