Jingle Ball 2012: New Music, Champion Athletes, and Surprises Performers
It only comes once a year, it brings you a lot of joy, and it definitely makes the roof shake. No, we’re not talking about Santa Claus- we’re talking about 102.7 KiisFM’s Jingle Ball!
Hosted by our very own Ryan Seacrest, this was the first ever two night ball, and night one blew it’s audience right out of their seats! From surprise guests, to big announcements, to brand new music Jingle Ball Night One was surely a night to remember. Here are few of the memorable moments!
OneRepublic, the second act of the night, rocked the crowd with their fan favorites like “Secrets” “Apologize” and “Good Life.” But they didn’t leave the stage without debuting a brand new song for their fans that surely didn’t disappoint! This was the first time the band has ever played their new song “If I Lose Myself” live, and Jingle Ball got to hear it first. Check out a fan’s video of the performance below!
Ellie Goulding who came on right after OneRepublic, was getting the chance to perform at Jingle Ball for the very first time! We’d like to tell you she was super excited, but the picture below speaks much louder than our words. Isn’t she just the cutest?
For all those Big Time Rush fans out there, a big announcement was made by two of the members of the group last night in between sets. They announced that not only will they be filming a brand new season of Big Time Rush, but they will also be going on tour! The screams and passing out girls around the venue proved that everyone is very excited for this news!

The Jonas Brothers have been making headlines of their own by announcing that they’re going to make another studio album, so you can imagine the JoBros’ fans joy when the guys were added on to the Jingle Ball act list in mid-November. Not only did their performance remind us why we love them in the first place, they also showed off their softer side doing a special cover of Frank Ocean‘s “Thinkin’ Bout You“. Was this cover inspired by any of the brothers’ personal lives? Catch a video of the super cool performance below. All night long the Jingle Ball audience was ready for the big announcement as to who the “surprise superstar band” was going to be. When two members of Maroon 5 took the stage the crowd went wild, figuring that they had finally found out who the band was. But unfortunately the band mates of the handsome Adam Levine were here to explain that Adam did indeed have strep throat, and early Saturday morning the group had to regretfully cancel their Jingle Ball performance. Maroon 5 told the audience to hashtag “#SaveAdam” and get it trending. Sure enough, it did.

But KiisFM didn’t leave us empty handed; instead audiences got to hear an amazing compilation DJ set from the one and only Will.i.am. who pumped up the crowd with both his older tunes, and his new song which features Britney Spears “Scream and Shout“. Despite the unfortunate cancellation from Maroon 5, audiences loved the set by Will.i.am.!
A surprising special appearance from the infamous LA Galaxy soccer team made for a proud Los Angeles crowd! The men of the Galaxy stopped by to show of their MLS title, making this the 4th championship for the team! The athletes came on stage with trophies in hand, as audiences got a special message from their coach Bruce Arena and captain Landon Donovan. Amazing artists and talented athletes in one place? We couldn’t have asked for more.
The headliner of night one was easily the most anticipated act of the night, and it’s no shock that Miss Taylor Swift got the entire crowd on their feet. Taylor performed old classics like “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” as well as our new favorites “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble“. And did we mention the intense use of pyrotechnics? It was a busy weekend for Taylor who not only performed at Jingle Ball, but also hosted American Top 40! Talk about pulling double duty, and she sure looked great doing it!
