Skylar Grey Debuts Dark New Song ‘Final Warning’
Skylar Grey’s name perfectly represents her music’s mood.
The singer, who has previously released music under the name Holly Brook, debuted her new single, “Final Warning,” on Tuesday and it’s not exactly a feel-good song.
“Someone’s gonna get hurt and it’s not gonna be me,” Skylar sings. “Good morning, gorgeous, I drove your truck in the lake last night.”
Although she’s been making music for nearly a decade, Skylar says “Final Warning” is the game changer for her.
“This is the first time in my entire life of making music, when I made this song, where I feel like I finally figured out the way that I wanted to sound and the combination of things,” she tells Rolling Stone. “I wrote the song three years ago, and it’s still my favorite. I’ve written so many songs since then, yet I always go back to this one. It got me going on the whole Skylar Grey project.”
Skylar was previously heard on Diddy-Dirty Money’s “I’m Coming Home” and she also wrote the hook for the 2010 Eminem-Rihanna hit, “Love the Way You Lie.”
“Final Warning,” which can be bought here, is on her second studio album, Don’t Look Down, which comes out July 9.
