The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes Needs Throat Surgery, Taking ‘Hiatus’

The Wanted announced on Wednesday that Nathan Sykes will have to undergo throat surgery and he will be taking an “unforeseen hiatus” from the group as he recovers.

“Our lil Nath has to go in for an op on his throat on his birthday to make him better so join us in wishing him well,” The Wanted wrote on Facebook. “We love ya! #GetWellNath.”

In a follow-up tweet, they thanked fans for the outpouring of support. “We will be passing on all your words of support and love, it means the world to him and you definitely help us all through this.”

While Nathan gets better, the remaining four members of The Wanted – Siva Kaneswaran, Max George, Jay McGuiness, and Tom Parker – will continue their promotional schedule.

The boy band’s new E! series, “The Wanted Life,” will premiere on June 2.
