Nicki Minaj Fights Back Tears After Amber Holcomb’s ‘American Idol’ Performance

With the finale only weeks away, the pressure was at an all-time high Wednesday night for the final four American Idol contestants.

With help from guest mentor Harry Connick Jr., the girls managed to put on impressive performances of songs from 2013, as well as a classic tune. While Candice Glover received rave reviews for her two performances, one song from Amber Holcomb proved to be a special one.

After singing “My Funny Valentine,” Amber received a standing ovation from all four judges. Overtaken by emotions, Amber began to cry onstage, which led judge Nicki Minaj to show her soft spot. “That was so beautiful,” Nicki raved as she fought back tears.
