It seems Ted won’t be making another surprise appearance at the Oscars next year.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane announced today on Twitter that he will not return as the host for the 2014 awards ceremony due to a scheduling conflict.

Most Memorable Oscar Moments

”Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep,” the 39-year-old tweeted. He continued on to say, “However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix.”

Seth’s packed schedule comes as no surprise as he attempts to balance his three FOX television shows and newfound interest in film directing.

With Seth out, the Academy has the decision to either repeat a host or name its 74th different emcee of all time.
