‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ Recap: Brody Confronts Bruce
The Kardashian-Jenner family have so much to be grateful for, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their share of problems, too.
For Rob, that has been his 50-pound weight gain. In the Keeping Up with the Kardasians‘ opening, his sisters and Khloe‘s husband Lamar Odom discuss how they need to help him get back on track with his health.
Bruce Jenner takes Kendall and Kylie to watch their half-brother Brandon perform a concert with his wife, Leah, which Brody misses because he’s in Australia. Having most of his kids together has Bruce reminiscing about how he had a very strained relationship with his sons when they were young, but he’s happy that it has evolved to what it is today.
But the family has an even bigger problem: Their fathers Robert Kardashian’s ex-wife has told a tabloid magazine that Kris Jenner used to physically abuse her children.
So Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Rob all head over to the house to cheer her up. “[I'm] just having an anxiety attack,” she tells her children. Still, Kris wants to just ignore the claims, while her kids think they should sue.
Bruce once again hangs out with his children, this time with Brody, but the family time only makes Brody upset because it makes him realize how much he missed out on with his dad growing up. During a seafood lunch in Malibu, he breaks his silence.
“You’re really great with [Kendall and Kylie],” he tells Bruce. “It’s interesting to watch how you were the girls because it’s not something I’m not really used to. You weren’t around when I was a kid” — to which Bruce cuts him off and says, “Now’s not the time to talk about it.”
Later, during a day out with Kendall, Kylie, and Rob, Bruce’s step-son is the one who encourages him to make it right with Brody. “I’d die to have that type of relationship,” Rob, whose own father has passed, tells Bruce. “Just remember it’s never too late to reconnect.”
So Bruce does just that and sits down for a heart-to-heart with Brody. “I can’t count how many birthdays that happened and I didn’t even get a phone call,” says Brody. “At the end of the day, that’s not too hard [for you].”
“I’ll take the blame for that,” responds Bruce. “I didn’t handle things right here, and that’s the biggest regret of my life.” The father and son eventually hug it out and tell each other, “I love you.”
