Prince William Turns 31: How New Baby Will Share His Birth Tradition

Happy birthday, Prince William!

The Duke of Cambridge is celebrating 31 years today, as he enjoys his last few days before he himself becomes a father.

With Kate Middleton’s July 11 due date rapidly approaching, everyone is dying to know how they will announce when the royal baby is finally here.

Instead of posting the information on Twitter, Facebook, or any social platform, the royal couple plans to reveal the baby’s birth the old fashioned way.

An aide for St. James Palace tells Us Weekly “a framed announcement will be place on a wood and gold easel just behind the gates of Buckingham Palace shortly after the baby arrives” — the same one used for Will’s birth in 1982.

As the royal baby will be third in line to the throne, it is “an extremely important occasion and there is to be a degree of theater about the birth announcement,” adds a Palace rep.

Here’s the catch: All details, including height, weight, gender, and birth time will be on the announcement, but the little one’s name will NOT! Kate’s mother Carole Middleton and sister Pippa Middleton are expected to be present for the birth, as well as the royal father-to-be, the royal aide tells Us.

The 31-year-old mother to be made her last public appearance this past Saturday, June 15, at Queen Elizabeth’s birthday parade before resting up for a few more weeks. Hopefully, she and Prince William are spending lots of time together before their family grows!
