Solange Knowles and 5 Other Celebs Often Overshadowed by Siblings
One of the most well-known is probably Solange, who turns 27 today. In honor of the talented singer’s birthday, check out this list of five other celebrities who are often overshadowed by their siblings and why we should take notice to these stars:
1. Solange Knowles
Who says fans can’t love Beyonce and Solange? Although Queen B has been taking the world by storm before she learned how to strut in heels, her younger sister Solange has also been making similar waves in music and fashion. And since it is Solange’s birthday today, she has a lot worth celebrating! Beyonce’s edgy sis proves she can hold her own and as be just as independent as Bey, especially with the creation of own label, SAINTS RECORDS, on which she is expected to release her upcoming third full-length, as well as other future projects.
Recently, Solange released a new version of the song, “Looks Good With Trouble” on iTunes from her 2012 EP, True, which features Kendrick Lamar.
With her music career booming, Solange is also turning heads with her incredible style. She has been looked to as a style icon with her sophisticated clothing choices and bright color statements. Back in 2012, she was signed to Next Model Management and has been seen in campaigns for Madewell, Armani Jeans, Rimmel London, and House of Dereon.
2. Luke Hemsworth
Good looks and talent seem to run deep in the Hemsworth family.
While younger brothers Liam (left) and Chris Hemsworth (center) have made a name for themselves with big-time movie roles, such as The Avengers and The Hunger Games in the U.S., eldest brother Luke has had small-screen success in their native Australia on popular television series The Neighbours, Bike Wars: Brothers in Arms, and Winners & Losers.
But soon enough, Luke will be taking his Aussie acting to America starring in the 2014 action thriller, The Anamoly, alongside The Vampire Diaries‘ Ian Somerhalder.
3. Elizabeth Olsen
Just like her twin sisters who became stars as toddlers, Elizabeth Olsen also made her acting debut at the tender age of 4. Elizabeth started out with cameos in Mary-Kate and Ashley‘s videos and then moved on to more serious acting roles. In addition to her Independent Spirit Award-nominated Martha Marcy May Marlene, she has starred in Red Lights, Liberal Arts, Silent House and Peace Love and Misunderstanding.
Now, she is set to star in the 2013 release of Very Good Girls, alongside Dakota Fanning. Elizabeth is also rumored to possibly play a young Carrie in the next Sex and the City movie.
4. Dave Franco
Just like the Hemsworth brothers, the Francos are not hard on the eyes either, especially James Franco‘s little brother, Dave.
Dave landed his first major role in 2007’s Superbad before he went on to appear in the most recent films, 21 Jump Street, Charlie St. Cloud, Friday Night, and Now You See Me.
In 2011, Dave was named one of the Breakout Stars to Watch for by NextMovie.com and we certainly believe it!
Dave is also featured in the July 2013 edition of Glamour magazine. And ladies, from what he hear, he’s single!
5. Ashlee Simpson
It hasn’t always been easy living up to sister Jessica Simpson, as she has opened up about in her song “Shadow,” but the actress-singer has been very successful throughout her own career.
Ash released three albums on Geffern Records, Autobiography, I Am Me, and Bittersweet World and also had her own MTV reality show, The Ashlee Simpson Show on MTV. She was also briefly married to Fall Out Boy member, Pete Wentz, and two have a now-4-year-old son together named Bronx, who is often seen having play dates with Jessica’s daughter, Maxwell.
Fans should be on the lookout for Ashlee’s fourth studio album, which she’s working on right now. The album has no release date yet, but we’re sure it will be just as catchy as her previous material!
6. Aaron Carter
The Carter Brothers, Nick and Aaron, have been living in the limelight since they were mere teenagers.
But although the elder gained mega stardom with The Backstreet Boys, Aaron’s career as a tween pop star fizzled after a few years. After a bumpy road though, the singer is now making a comeback and is touring all over the U.S. on his The After Party tour, while Nick has been prepping for the In a World Like This tour with the rest of the Backstreet Boys.
After touring, Aaron hopes to put out a full-length album by the end of this year or 2014, so make sure to pick it up!
