Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ Hits No. 1, But Sells Less Than Daft Punk
Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories moved 339,000 units in its first week of release, 12,000 more copies than the rapper. Before that, Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience sold 958,000 its first week back in March.
Even though it was his lowest sales debut yet, Kanye shouldn’t be too bitter because it was still the biggest week for a rap album since Drake‘s Take Care, which debuted at No. 1 in November 2011.
Also, Kanye’s sixth album puts him in second place for most No. 1’s by a rapper of all time. His friend, Jay-Z, places first.
So although Kanye might not have been so lucky as Daft Punk or JT his first week, he has a lot to be thankful for… for starters, he just had a baby with Kim Kardashian!
