Kristen Bell Proposes to Dax Shepard After DOMA Ruling
Now that the Supreme Court has overturned the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), wedding plans may be in the works for many couples, including Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell and comedian-actor Dax Shepard, after Kristen proposed to her fiancé of four years via Twitter.
Immediately after the ruling the 32-year-old tweeted, “You’re damn right DOMA is unconstitutional!! #equalitymatters.” She then retweeted a follower’s hashtag, “#defenseofmarriagecansuckit.”
Moments later, Kristen popped the question to the father of their 3-month-old daugther, Lincoln, asking, “@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove.”

The couple has been waiting for marriage equality before making their own wedding plans. “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my best friends,” Kristen told the Advocate in 2012. “That’s why we’ve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”
Now that DOMA has been struck down, we can’t wait to see their long-awaited wedding finally happen!
