Katy Perry’s New Sound Is ‘Mature,’ Reveals Bonnie McKee

Bonnie McKee and Katy Perry are practically “soulmates.”

From co-writing Katy’s major hit songs on Teenage Dream, Bonnie knows what the singer likes, so it only makes sense that Katy enlisted the help of her partner-in-crime to co-write with her again on her new album.

While Bonnie is promoting her new single, “American Girl,” she’s revealed that she is able to lend a hand to the “Wide Awake” singer and write what she thinks are more personal songs …and a far cry from the teeny-bop pop songs we’ve heard in the past.

“I think it’s a little bit more grown up and it’s really interesting,” McKee said in an interview with MTV. “I’m really excited for the world to hear it because she’s just… she’s taking a new approach. And I don’t want to say too much about it, but it’s definitely different. It’s definitely a little more mature than the ‘California Gurls’ of yesterday.”

After divorcing hubsand Russell Brand and being on-and-off again with John Mayer, we expect Katy has a lot more to say on this album.

As there is no confirmed release date for the album yet, who knows what Katy has up her sleeves. We assume it’s something great!
