After all these years, we now know that “Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to disagree,” is not the right lyric.
Music streaming service Spotify polled music listeners in both the U.S. and the U.K. to figure out what are the most-misheard songs in history.
In the U.S., Manfred Mann’s cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded By the Light” took the top spot followed by Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze,” The Clash’s “Rock the Casbah” and Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer.”
The most recent song on the list came in at No. 8 with Far East Movement’s 2010 track “Like a G6.” Listeners originally thought the lyric was “like a cheese stick.”
In the U.K., “Sweet Dreams” by Eurythmics took the cake followed by the very popular Rihanna song “We Found Love.” Listeners confused the lyric “We found love in a hopeless place” with “We found Dove in a soapless place.” Strange…
