Ke$ha Talks About Getting ‘Wasted,’ Playing iHeartRadio Music Festival
The “Crazy Kids” singer phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to share that she’s looking forward to it. “I’ve actually wanted to go to that show and have a dance party with myself, so I’m really excited to actually be playing it.”
And the 26-year-old is clearly no stranger to Sin City. “On my TV show, My Crazy Beautiful Life, there’s an entire episode of me just getting completely … wasted. It’s just kind of what you do in Vegas. You get drunk, you run around, you do naughty things and you usually end up at a strip club or maybe get married or get a tattoo. You lose money, you win money. That’s what Vegas is about. It’s an adult playground,” the singer laughs.
As for the music Ke$ha will be performing, the singer admitted she felt like she understood things better by the time her second album Warrior came around.
“Honestly, the first record Animal, I’m proud … but I feel like I had no idea what I was doing, so there’s a beauty in how naive I was, but the second time around after I met so many people on my first world tour I realized, like, there are people listening. So that’s why I wanted to still write incredibly fun, debaucherous dance music, but I also thought it was really important to have an underlying message on this record to be of strength and love and acceptance because throughout my travels I’ve had so many people tell me that they’re being bullied … so thats why I wanted to write a record called Warrior.”
And speaking of feeling naive and just starting out, the “Crazy Kids” singer shared her first memories of being on stage consisted of her mom and a guitar case.
“That was actually one of my first memories as a baby is she would take me and play shows [at the Hollywood Bowl] and she’d put me in a guitar case so I wouldn’t fall off the stage because I was tiny!”
