Taylor Swift, Pitbull, Ed Sheeran React to VMA Nominations

The MTV Video Music Awards are just around the corner and on Wednesday, this year’s nominees were announced on social media apps, Vine and Instagram.

As expected, there is a great line up of nominees and some have already tweeted out their excitment. Take a look at what some celebrities had to say:

2013 MTV Video Music Awards: All the Nominees!

Leading the pack is Justin Timberlake and Macklemore who both recieved six VMA nominations. Both of the nominees with be competing against each other in the Video of the Year category for “Mirrors” and “Thrift Shop” and Best Direction for “Suit and Tie” and “Can’t Hold Us.” JT is no newbie when it comes to winning though. In 2004, the singer went away with three awards, Male Artist of the Year, Quadrupale Threat of the Year, and Best Chroeography in a video for “My Love.” Who do you think will win more awards, JT or Mackelmore?

Pitbull and Christina Aguileria are nominated for Best Collaboration for their song, “Feel This Moment.” Christina has two VMA awards already for her collaboration with “Lady Marmalade. If Pitbull wins in this category, this will be his first VMA award.

AlthoughEd Sheeran has been nominated for many awards such as Artist of the Year at the Grammys, he is still yet to receive an American award for his music. This year he is nominated for Best Male Video for “Lego House” and he is quite thrilled about it.

Friend of Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, is nominated for two awards this year, Best Female Video and also Video of the Year.

We can’t forget her infamous run-in with Kanye West on stage when Taylor beat out Beyonce for Best Female Video in 2009 with “You Belong with Me.”

Don’t worry this year though… Taylor says if she wins this time, she’ll take better care of holding onto that mic!

The MTV Video Awards will happen August 25 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Any predictions on who take home the silver Moonman?
