Many music artists, guests, and viewers have been left speechless by Kanye West‘s performances and infamous antics at the MTV Video Music Awards over the years.

And it was just announced that Ye will be returning to the stage for the seventh time on August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where he’ll be performing his latest Yeezus single, “BLKKK SKKN HEAD.”

The rapper, who first rocked the VMA stage back in 2004 with a medley of songs from his debut album The College Dropout, will tie Madonna with the most VMA performances.

But it may come as shock to some given Yeezy’s track record with the network.

No one will ever forget when Kanye cut off Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech after she won the Best Female Video award at the 2009 VMAs. ”I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,” he proclaimed as Taylor stood there shocked and embarrassed.

Baby North West‘s dad also slammed MTV in March during a radio interview with New York’s Hot 97 station, after MTV released their Hottest MCs list, where he ranked No. 7. “Yeah, number seven bothers me,” he said. “I feel like for them to put me at number seven, they had to bring up things they didn’t like.”

Furthermore, there was an audio tape that was recently leaked where Kanye rants about the Taylor incident and racism during dinner following the 2009 awards show. When someone asked him,”Why are you so angry? What’s the anger?” he responded, “Because my mother got arrested for the [expletive] sit-ins. My mother died for this fame sh*t! I moved to [expletive] Hollywood chasing this sh*t. My mother died because of this sh*t. F**k MTV.”

What’s more ironic is that MTV VJ, Swayannounced Kanye’s VMA performance, despite Kanye blasting him in March during the same radio interview. “I can’t believe it,” West said. “I gave Sway his first TV. Really, I didn’t really want to call and talk about the No. 7 list, I just wanted to tell everyone I gave Sway his first TV. And he needs to remember that.”
