Usher Breaks Silence on Son’s Accident, Thanks ‘True Heroes’


Usher‘s 5-year-old son is doing well following a near-drowning accident on Monday, and now the singer is expressing his gratitude.

“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,”  he said in a statement. “I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being.”

Usher, 34, also offered up his thanks to those who helped rescue his son after he dove into their pool to retrieve a toy and then his arm got stuck in the drain.

“I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock,” Usher added. “I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them.”
