‘The Hills’ Alternate Ending: Better Than the Original?
Three years after The Hills went off the air, MTV is revisiting its hit show by airing the alternate ending to the series finale.
On Friday morning, fans got to see what almost went down in 2010. And if you don’t want to know, stop reading now because we’re about to reveal it!
In the original finale, the series ended with Kristin Cavallari driving away from Brody Jenner … and then it was revealed that they were actually on a Hollywood lot, which was a joke about people saying the show was all fake.
The alternate ending isn’t all that different, though. In the new version that aired on Friday, after Brody bids Kristin goodbye, he heads home … and to Lauren Conrad, who left The Hills after Season 4.
“Hey, where you been?” she asks Brody. When he says he had to say goodbye to a friend, she responds, “It’s hard to say goodbye” and then grins at him.
The series’ creator, Adam DiVello, tells Entertainment Weekly that it wasn’t easy getting LC to be a part of it. ”It’s something I always wanted for the finale, and it just took a lot of persuading. Calling and calling and calling and calling. I was relentless and I bugged MTV until they gave in.”
So then why does Adam prefer this version? “I just really felt like it needed something extra, like one more beat, and I felt like it needed Lauren,” he also tells EW. “I remember going back to MTV and even reaching out to Lauren and just saying, ‘Is there any way we can make that happen?’ It kind of seamlessly fit with adding Brody at the end.”
