New York City’s Rockefeller Center was a screaming madhouse this morning when the boys of One Direction put on a free show for the Today show.

The morning program’s concerts are always heavily populated, but the crowd that came to see the “Best Song Ever” boys sing was the largest the NYPD seen. In fact, it was estimated that there were 18,000 Directioners shouting out lyrics and “I love you’s!” to the uber-talented and super cute group.

Before their record-breaking concert, the band spoke with Today host Savannah Guthrie and touched on topics like their friendship (they all unanimously agree that they’re best friends) and Zayn’s recent engagement (“We’re really happy!” he said of he and his fiancée Perrie Edwards.) The boys showed off their sense of humor and laughed with the host, making their interview so entertaining to watch.

Regarding the One Direction: This is Us movie, Harry Styles said that fans “will learn a lot about what we do everyday.”
