MTV Video Music Awards: Top 10 Most Unforgettable Moments
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards is on Sunday, and if tradition continues, you can expect some unforgettable and flat-out outrageous moments during the show!
In honor of the much-anticipated music event, here are 10 unforgettable moments in VMA history:
One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Moonman
The iconic Moonman award took a trip to space with two Russian Astronauts and tuned in via satellite in 1996!
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber may be over (who knows with these two), but team Jelena will always remember their PDA during the VMA pre-show in 2011. The “Come and Get It” singer co-hosted and interviewed her then-boyfriend who planted a kiss on her cheek after their conversation!
Lady Gaga stepped out as her male alter-ego Jo Calderone at the 2011 VMAs. The “Born This Way” singer stayed in character during her opening monologue and all throughout her performance of “You and I!”
Gabby Douglas reminded everyone that she is an Olympic gold medalist as she did a series of cartwheels and back flips during Alicia Keys‘ live performance of “Girl on Fire” featuring Nicki Minaj in 2012.
King of Awk
Remember when Michael Jackson shared that awkward kiss with Lisa Marie Presley at the 1994 VMAs? So does the rest of the world!
The Teenage Dream
Finding Love Is Easy
The always humble Rihanna won the Moonman for “Video of the Year” for her smash hit “We Found Love” at last year’s VMAs. The “Stay” singer showed her sense of humor as she brushed off her shoulder letting the world know how easy it is for a music veteran like her.
The Kidz Bop
How could anyone forget Beyonce‘s baby announcement at the 2011 VMAs? After her jazzy performance of “Love on Top,” Queen Bey unbuttoned her sequenced blazer and showed the world her baby bump!
Kiss Me Baby One More Time!
Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera joined forces to perform “Like a Virgin” and “Hollywood,” but that wasn’t the show-stopper at the 2003 VMAs. At the end of their performance, Madonna took the “Ooh La La” singer’s girl-kiss virginity then turned to Christina for her turn! Also, then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake had a priceless reaction!
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!”
And finally we have the infamous Kanye West interruption during Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech for “Best Female Video” in 2009. The mic-snatching incident went viral and produced numerous of memes across the social media board, which the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer still jokes about ’til this day!
