First Dog Sunny Obama Meets the White House Press: Photos

She’s ready for her close-up!

The Obama family’s new dog, Sunny, greeted the press on the grounds of The White House with lots of sniffs and licks on Monday, just three weeks after she joined the First Family.

The 14-month-old Portuguese Water Dog was on a walk with her handler when she stopped to pose for some photos for the press … and even rolled over so everyone could rub her belly!

“After finally meeting Sunny, it’s safe to say the press corps is smitten,” NBC’s Peter Alexander told TODAY.com in an email.

According to TODAY producer Libby Leist, the pup then tried to head into the briefing room with her new friends, but was stopped by her handler.

Sunny moved into the White House on August 19 and joins big brother Bo, who was adopted by the Obamas shortly after the President’s inauguration in 2009.
