The iHeartRadio Music Festival is next week! Are you ready?

Today we celebrate Drake, who will be joining the likes of  Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Chris Brown, and many more in Las Vegas on September 20 and 21.

From the small screen to your iPod, the “Take Care” singer has been an industry icon from the get-go, so here are 5 reasons why we “heart” Drake:

1. Started From Degrassi Now He’s Here

Any Drake fan would know that the “Started From the Bottom” singer actually started on the Nickelodeon show, Degrassi. The Canadian-born rapper played basketball superstar, Jimmy,  who became paralyzed from the waist down. In the clip, Drake debuts one of his earliest raps in an old Degrassi episode, foreshadowing his future global success!

2. His Lyrics Go Viral

Whenever you justify your “daring” actions with Y.O.L.O., you have Drake to thank! The 26-year-old made Y.O.L.O. — You Only Live Once — viral after debuting his hit track, “The Motto.” So the next time you decide to walk with your shoelaces untied or ignore an upcoming exam … whatever … Y.O.L.O.!

3. He Collaborates With Other Artists

Drake can collaborate with almost anyone in the music industry! The “No New Friends” rapper has worked with music legends as Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and many more! Who will he work with next? Stay tuned.

4. He Can SING

Rapping and singing are arguably two different things, but that doesn’t matter to Drake because he can do both! Everyone knows the “Marvin’s Room” singer can rap, but every now and then he’ll serenade fans with his soothing singing voice with songs like “Find Your Love” and his recent chart-topping track, “Hold on We’re Going Home.”

5. He’s a Baller

Drake can easily score the No. 1 spot in a rap contest, but did you know he can score points on the basketball court? Watch the shirtless Drake take a beat from his music career to drop buckets from downtown! What can’t he do?
