J.K. Rowling to Write ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-off Film
Good news for Harry Potter fans: there will be more films!
On Thursday, Warner Bros. announced a partnership with J.K. Rowling that will see the release of an all new film series based on the world of Harry Potter.
The 48-year-old author will pen a screenplay (her first ever!) for the studio based on her 2001 Potter accomplice, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which follows the adventures of fictional character Newt Scamander and is about the magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling said in a statement. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets underway.”
The partnership will also include video games, consumer products, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme parks.
How many muggles out there are excited for more stories from the world of wizardry?
