iHeartRadio Music Festival: 5 Reasons Why We ‘Heart’ Keith Urban

End your “Long Hot Summer” with a bang by checking out Keith Urban‘s performance! Tickets are currently sold out, BUT you can listen in live via Clear Channel radio stations. You can also watch the performances on The CW over two nights on September 30 and October 1.Keith will perform alongside several other performers, including Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, and Ke$ha.
Here are 5 reasons why we “heart” Keith Urban:
1. He’s Australian
This country-singing mate was brought up from “Down Under,” born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. Keith (and his charming accent) moved to the United States in 1992, releasing his solo album Keith Urban in 1999. Keith has always remained loyal to his roots, revisiting Australia frequently, in addition to coaching for Australia’s The Voice. The “Little Bit of Everything” singer owns homes in both the United States and Australia.
2. He’s married to Nicole Kidman
Keith and Nicole met back in 2005 and got married the very next year. They have two children together — Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. When he’s not performing onstage, Keith maintains a busy schedule at home, fulfilling his roles as husband and father. Calling him a “romantic” might be an understatement though… Keith LOVES to gush about Nicole (whom he refers to as “Nic”). According to him, “Nic is extraordinary” and their relationship is “beautiful.” Perhaps country singers ARE best at talking (and singing!) about emotional topics.
3. We love him on American Idol
ANY form of criticism sounds better in an Australian accent, right? Luckily for us, Keith is back for the 13th season of Idol, making it his second season on the judges panel. In all seriousness, we love hearing Keith’s opinion, especially his musical critique.
4. He’s a good ol’ country boy
Keith has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. While growing up, he worked on a farm and tended to farm animals. In 1992, he moved to Nashville to enhance his music career (which is also where he presumably picked up his southern charm!). Despite Keith’s growing celebrity status, he’ll always remain a country boy at heart. After all … “you can take the boy outta the country, but you can’t take the country outta the boy!”
5. He touches our hearts
Whether he’s singing about love, commitment, family, or simply enjoying life, Keith sings from the heart to the heart. Listen closely to his lyrics and you’ll probably adjust your perspective.
