Carrie Underwood Covers the Beatles at the Emmys: Watch
After all the Emmy glitz and glam, celebrities re-made history by honoring television’s most influential stars of the past.
It’s been nearly 50 years since the Beatles performed on the Ed Sullivan Show for more than 70 million viewers on February 9, 1964. The 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards paid homage to this changing moment in music and TV history with a musical tribute from Carrie Underwood and a touching speech by Don Cheadle.
The actor remembered the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the march of Martin Luther King Jr. during his opening speech to emphasize the beginning of TV’s power to engage and inform.
Carrie performed “Yesterday” in a beautiful blue gown to honor these historical events and anticipate the future that TV has to offer new talent.
