Seth Meyers: Miley Cyrus Is ‘Game’ to Poke Fun At Herself on ‘SNL’
Seth Meyers is gearing up for the 39th season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend.
The funny man, who is also preparing to take over Late Night in February phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to chat about his new job and if he’ll be able to do and SNL. (All he’ll tell us “we will probably cross that bridge closer to when it approaches.”)
Until then, Meyers admits “I’m excited for Weekend Update with [newcomer] Cecily Strong.” Meyers, who recently got married to longtime girlfriend Alexi Ashe, adds: “The most exciting thing for us is we have Tina Fey coming back which is always really fun… and we have Arcade Fire… and we have six new cast members, which is the most in years.”
Those six newbies include Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, Kyle Mooney, Mike O’Brien, Noel Wells, and Brooks Wheelan.
“They’re fitting in pretty good,” Seth shares. “As it gets closer to showtime, they seem to be getting their game faces on.”
As for how the SNL veteran thinks upcoming performer and host Miley Cyrus will do on October 5, he admits: “Certainly at this point in Miley’s career you want to give her as much to do as possible to see what’s going to happen.”
“She is an entertainer and anyone who does not find what she’s been doing wildly entertaining, I don’t know what you’re looking for,” he adds.
And it’s obvious Seth is a Smiler. “She was great when we she came here [before],” he insists. “She’s totally game. She’s a sweetheart and we’re more than happy to have her back. She was more than happy to poke fun at herself, so we are looking forward to doing that again.”
And we can’t wait to tune in, as well!
