The #StarbucksDrakeHands guy won the Internet this week … and we got a hold of the inspiration for his video text!

Model-actress Piper Kennedy called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to tell us what she initially thought when Brody Ryan, a Starbucks barista she gave her phone number to, texted her a video of himself listening to Drake‘s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and oddly rubbing his forehead while smiling.

“I was at a Starbucks in West Hollywood after an audition a couple of weeks ago, and I met him … and he’s a good-looking guy,” the 20-year-old explains. “And he seemed totally normal. I think he’s a musician actually. We chatted for a little bit and I gave him my number, and a couple of hours later I get a text and I see that video. I did not even know what to think. I was so uncomfortable and laughing hysterically in tears simultaneously at the same time.”

Piper says she then sent it to a male friend of hers who is record producer in New York City, who put it on his Instagram page, “and then next thing I know, I’m getting texts and calls from producers and I didn’t even know how this happened. I’m glad people are getting some good entertainment out of it.

So how did Brody get Piper to give up her phone number in the first place? “It was a very normal guy-girl exchange, witty banter kind of thing for 10, 15 minutes,” she says. “I don’t often give my number out to random guys at Starbucks and I just decided to why not give it a shot. I think that was definitely the most unique follow-up to a first meeting that anyone has ever encountered before.”

Although Piper was uncomfortable with Brody’s approach, she doesn’t count out a date. In fact, the two recently spoke after his video went viral.

“I was stressing out,” she says. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this could go in so many different ways. He can either think this is hilarious or he can get really offended by it.’ And sure enough, he sent me a text and I called him back and I apologized. But he took it in really great spirits, which is great. I’m sure that we will end up seeing each other again at some point because there are people wanting to see us together in person.”
