Harry Connick, Jr.: ‘American Idol’ ‘Couldn’t Be More Fun’

Now that the judges panel has been made official on American Idol, the trio — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr. — have been working hard scouring the country for the best singing talent.

But although they take their job very seriously, there’s still plenty of good times, says Harry, who called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to chat about how auditions have been going.

“It couldn’t be more fun,” he says. “It’s fun when it needs to be, and it’s serious and it’s intense. All of the things that you would hope it would be.”

But they’re not laughing at some of the Idol hopefuls who aren’t talented, he insists. “We’re laughing at the right stuff. We’re laughing at things that are funny, never laugh at the contestants … it’s a great environment!”
