Miley Cyrus Talks Liam Hemsworth Split, VMAs on ‘Ellen': Watch
Miley Cyrus brought her wrecking ball along for the ride during her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss her headline-grabbing breakup, her raunchy VMAs performance, and her newly-released album, Bangerz.
The 20-year-old entertainer sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday and dished about her recent split with Liam Hemsworth. Surprisingly, the “Wrecking Ball” singer seemed at peace and candidly said, “I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That’s kind of where I am right now.” The star also revealed that her new album is a “story” that chronicles her “growth.”
In the interview, Ellen also asked Miley if she is “surprised” about all the media attention she is getting and segues into her controversial performance at the VMAs in late August.
“It was supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be funny slash somewhat — obviously — provocative,” Miley said. “I can’t really understand where the shock comes from. I know that sounds crazy, but I can’t really understand it because I don’t see anything more than what any other real artist did that night. I mean, Gaga was in a thong, but no one cares.”
Ellen, who is known for giving guests a farewell present, ends the interview by giving Miley a onesie that mimics her outfit at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
