Katy Perry Performs, Shares Stories at iHeartRadio ‘Prism’ Release Party
The release party took place Tuesday night at the iHeartRadio Theater Los Angeles’ official grand opening.
Mario introduced the singer as she started of the night with a performance of her No. 1 hit single, “Roar.”
Katy sat down with the host, as she gushed over his irresistible dimples, and gave the audience some inside scoop about Prism. “There is maybe one typo on my whole record,” she told the crowd. “If you find it you get a cookie!” She also revealed that the album’s Walmart special edition comes with a sample of her fragrance “Killer Queen” and a Prism logo that can be planted to grow wildflowers.
KatyCat also sang “Dark Horse,” inspired by the ’90s witchy classic, The Craft, “By the Grace of God,” an emotional ballad that she proclaims is her most vulnerable, and the song she sang live for the first time on Tuesday,”This Moment,” inspired by the book The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle.
Mario quizzed Katy with random questions, like her favorite song to sing in the car (it’s Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” ) and the most famous person in her cell phone (Miley Cyrus).
Speaking of Miley, did you know the “California Gurls” singer once shared a dressing room with Taylor Swift and the “Wrecking Ball” singer at her first Grammy Awards and asked the girls for a lock of their hair? She kept them in her purse for the rest of the night.
Katy ended the night with a performance of “Unconditionally,” which she calls the ” crown jewel off the record.”
“It’s about this universal love that we all search for,” she concluded. “Love is the highest emotion that we live our lives for.”
The iHeartRadio Album Release Party With Katy Perry will air on The CW Network on October 25 (Katy’s birthday!) at 9 p.m. ET.
