Melissa McCarthy on Halloween With Sandra Bullock, Christmas Traditions
Melissa McCarthy phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Monday to talk about tonight’s Season 4 premiere of Mike and Molly, as well as trick-or-treating with Sandra Bullock and their kids over the weekend.
“I usually shave before I go in front of a camera but I thought … ‘its fine!'” the comedian jokes of her Halloween fishermen get-up with her The Heat co-star. Melissa adds it was her idea to don the yellow waterproof ensemble and full beard with Sandra: “I got those costumes and I thought, ‘How could we look our prettiest?’ And that’s what we came up with.”
Although a great costume, the look didn’t disguise them from the paparazzi. And now that Halloween is officially over, it’s on to the next holidays for the McCarthy family.
Melissa shares that for Christmas, she and husband Ben Falcone, along with their kids, will host a “one-pot dinner party,” a tradition they’ve kept going for the past 10 years.
“We’re super lazy, but we have a bunch of people over [and] I think Ben is making meatballs this year, but we [just] tell people: ‘It’s on the stove, go get it! Merry Christmas.'”
As for the Bridesmaids actress’ hit TV show Mike and Molly, she says, “They’ve had us on the run in a good way. [We're] out of the house more than we ever have been.”
Melissa also reveals that her character makes a big decision this season. “I decide maybe I don’t want to be a teacher anymore, so I take a big plunge … they keep it messy. It should be exciting.”
She adds they’ve “really written to” her physical comedy. “I keep destroying myself,” Melissa laughs. “Every time there is a flight of stars, I’ll be like, ‘I can take those!'”
