Paul Rudd Is a One Direction Superfan in ‘SNL’ Sketch: Watch

If you thought you were the ultimate One Directioner, guess again …

Paul Rudd hosted Saturday Night Live for the third time over the weekend, and the 44-year-old joined forces with musical guests, One Direction, to express his obsession for the UK boy band in a hilarious sketch.

The bit portrays the Anchorman 2 actor as Dan Charles, a middle-aged 1D superfan who outshines the little girls in line with trivia questions about the “Story of My Life” crooners.

Earlier in the Rudd-hosted hour, One Direction joined the actor onstage during his opening monologue. Paul, who felt threatened by being upstaged by the “Kiss You” singers, brought out the cast of Anchorman 2, Will Ferrell, David Koechner, and Steve Carell — and after a little trash-talking, the man band and boy band came together as Nine Direction for an A capella rendition of “Afternoon Delight.”

One Direction wrapped up the show with a swooning performance of “Through the Dark” and “Story of My Life.”
