Will Ferrell Talks ‘Anchorman 2’, Gushes Over One Direction

Will Ferrell phoned in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about the return of Ron Burgundy with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, as well as to gush over the boys of One Direction.

The funny man joked of the sequel: “It’s finally here, I have been promoting this since 2012 … No, it’s been great. We’ve gotten to do a lot of left of center stuff. To get out and kind of do a lot of the stuff in character has been an absolute blast.”

And by doing things in character he’s referring to visiting local news teams and reading the news as Ron Burgundy. “That might be the most satisfying because that’s an idea I had with the original Anchorman … to actually read the news with the local news team while they tried to keep from laughing was a highlight of my career.”

Ad Will has his high school to thank! “I would do the morning announcements with a buddy,” he says. “It was a campaign to sell senior class t-shirts … and we would make fun of teachers and other students and it became quite popular. Those were the first steps in to thinking this was something I could for a living.”

And aside from doing press for the upcoming hilarious flick, Will’s also been busy getting to know the boys of One Direction. After meeting them and taking a selfie with Niall Horan at Saturday Night Live, the comedian joked they’re all “dream boats.”

When asked if he thinks it’s true that Niall is becoming the new Harry Styles, Will jokes: “I mean, I don’t want to start any controversy … Niall is very personable. Harry is known for that great head of hair. They’re both dream boats, let’s face it … And, Zayn, once you look in to his eyes, it’s lights out. So is Zayn the new Harry and Niall?”

Only time will tell Will, only time will tell!
