What Were the 10 Biggest Stories on RyanSeacrest.com in 2013?
2013 was a great year for pop music … and on RyanSeacrest.com, the biggest acts made some serious waves.
Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande were amongst the stars who made the most noise on our site this year.
In April, the Pitch Perfect actress brought her song “Cups (When I’m Gone)” to life in a super cute video in which she made biscuits … and played the cups, of course.
On Halloween, RyanSeacrest.com had the exclusive premiere of the boys of Emblem3 lip-synching (and goofing around) to Ylvis‘ viral hit. It probably helped that the X Factor alums were in a shower in one scene!
On December 9, none other than Bieber himself called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about his #MusicMondays, his Believe movie, and how he feels he’s been “bullied” by the media.
“People don’t get to see me living as a 19-year-old boy,” Justin explained. “I’m still finding myself and when I have the media attacking me everyday, it’s no [different] than bullying that happens in school … I think this movie really shows who I am as a person … of course I make mistakes growing up … and I’m not perfect … people forget I’m a human being [and] I have to make mistakes and grow stronger.”
In June, Miley gave On Air with Ryan Seacrest the exclusive first spin of her monster summer jam, “We Can’t Stop” … and she even came into the studio to press play herself! “Everyone always judges and say what they want, but my fans … have really stood by me no matter what I’ve been through … and this is a song that says where I’m at in my life right now,” she explained at the time.
In August, before they admitted they were indeed a couple, the “Baby, I” singer and The Wanted cutie played with our hearts in the music video for their duet, “Almost Is Never Enough,” from the Mortal Instruments soundtrack.
At the end of the video, Ariana puts her arm around Nathan’s neck as the two lean back on a couch. The next month, the two finally confirmed they had been a couple for some time and shared their “happiness” to be together. But it seems the romance was short-lived. Recent reports have speculated that Ariana and Nathan are no longer a couple.
In February, Demi dropped new music on her Lovatics when she premiered “Heart Attack” late on a Sunday night. Since, she has had hit after hit from her Demi album with “Made in the U.S.A.” and “Neon Lights.”
Viral video star turned The Ellen DeGeneres Show mainstay, Princess Sophia Grace, released the video for her song “Girls Just Gotta Have Fun” in June. In it, the 10-year-old Brit cruised down the streets in her pink plastic Cadillac, went to dance parties, and lounged in a mini pink throne.
For the third year in a row, Jimmy Kimmel asked parents to tell their kids they ate all their Halloween candy … and then film their meltdowns. And of course, they did not disappoint!
Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake (with a reunited *NSYNC!), Bruno Mars, and more lit up the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August, but of course it was that collaboration between Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke that really grabbed headlines and had people clamoring to the see the controversial performance. Watch them all again HERE!
Two days before Selena was set to premiere her mega-hit single, “Come & Get It,” on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, it unfortunately leaked … but she made this cute video for her fans saying that despite being disappointed that it leaked, she was “excited” for everyone to finally hear it.
