Michael Bay Walks Offstage After Teleprompter Malfunctions at CES

Michael Bay may be one of the biggest directors in Hollywood, but his acting skills are not as sharp.

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday, the Transformers director was set to present Samsung’s new 105-inch curved UHD television, but as he began talking about the product with Samsung Executive Vice President Joe Stinziano, his teleprompter malfunctioned … and Bay froze.

Although Stinziano tried to get the director to wing the conversation, he didn’t seem comfortable and said, “Excuse me, I’m sorry …” as he walked offstage.

Of course, the video quickly went viral, prompting Bay to break his silence about the gaffe on his personal website.

“Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”
