‘The Bachelor’ Juan Pablo Talks Deal Breakers, Rose Ceremony Flub
The 32-year-old single dad stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest to talk about his journey to find love and played a little game we like to call “The Juan or Not The Juan.”
Before we got to the good stuff, the Venezuelan admitted he had never seen an episode of The Bachelor before, despite having been on The Bachelorette previously. “I’d never seen The Bachelor before … I’d rather just go with the flow and whatever has to happen, happens.”
And what happened on the premiere last Monday was more than entertaining and a tad bit awkward when Juan Pablo called contestant Kat‘s name, but a woman named Kylie misheard and stepped forward to accept the rose instead.
“Honestly, I was dying to see what I said because at the moment I was like, ‘Okay, everything happened at the rose ceremony. That’s it. Good, I’m done!’ So I was waiting for the moment on Monday to see if it was me, my accent, maybe I pronounced it wrong? But I saw I [said] ‘Kat!’ so it was a relief, but I felt terrible at the time,” he explains.
And as for the reports Kylie now says she was set up by the producers to look stupid, JP admits he doesn’t understand that accusation. “When I was on The Bachelorette they could have told me, ‘Hey, just come out naked.’ And I would say, ‘No, that’s it.’ I have control and that’s probably why I was only two minutes on the air on Bachelorette.”
Juan, who also is the first Latin Bachelor, is a single father to a 4-year-old daughter named Camila. When asked if he runs the women he dates and meets by the mother of his child, Carla, he shares: “It’s not about approving.”
“As long as she’s happy, I’ll approve who she is with … her thing is she wants the best for Camila and I want the best for Camila too and … she’s always around. Carla’s always around my life.” JP adds, however, he doesn’t require Carla’s approval though on who he dates or in this situation, will choose.
“No, not at all. I have to make sure my daughter is okay and that I’m okay.”
Considering he had 27 girls to chose from, we are pretty sure he’s doing just fine!
Speaking of the one he may ultimately chose, we put the eligible bachelor on the spot with a game called “The Juan or Not The Juan”!
“The Juan or Not The Juan”:
Is waking up with bad breath a deal breaker?
“It’s fine, man. Just go brush your teeth.”
If she can’t cook?
“I’ll cook for her it’s fine.”
If she passes gas in bed?
“That’s a tough one. If I’m asleep, then I’m okay. But if I’m awake and it stinks, then not The Juan.”
If she doesn’t want more kids in addition to Camila?
“Not The Juan at all, she’s gone [if doesnt want more kids].” (Juan says he wants to have two more kids.)
If she won’t sleep with you until after marriage?
“Not The Juan!”
Catch The Bachelor on Monday nights on ABC at 8/7c.
