‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ Premiere: Kris, Bruce Explain Split

A new season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians brings new changes!

Sunday night’s Season 9 premiere opens with Kim and Khloe getting their hair lightened to blonde, while Bruce — who is now rocking a ponytail — is preparing to move out of his Malibu bachelor pad.

Kim then brings Khloe, Kourtney, and Scott to see her under-construction home, but she doesn’t get the reactions she was probably hoping for. All three continually crack jokes about how much she and Kanye West paid, how big their pool will be, and how long it will take to finish renovations.

Everything was going well until Khloe tries to call Lamar Odom to warn him about some “paparazzi thing,” but he doesn’t answer. “You wouldn’t wish anyone to go through what Khloe is going through,” says Kim. “She’s just a different person and I just want her to be happy and find peace of mind.”

After Bruce comes by his house with Kris and sees that there is no place for his stuff once he moves out of the Malibu pad, he calls his real estate agent to extend his lease. “I just can’t see going back,” he tells Kris. “We just seem to both be doing better with our space.” Still, he adds that he doesn’t want a divorce.

But when he explains his living situation to Kendall and Kylie, they’re not as excited for their dad. “What is this?” asks Kendall. “Are we divorced parents’ kids now? I’m so confused. I don’t want to live like I have divorced parents.” Bruce explains he doesn’t feel comfortable at the main house because “I haven’t been treated that well over there. I get up in the morning and I’m criticized on what I wear … and you’ve seen it.”

Bruce and Kris then hold a family meeting to explain their “status,” but Kendall calls them out for “hiding” what is going on and asks why they’re so afraid to get a divorce. When Khloe interjects, Kris jumps on her … and the tension hits the roof, as Khloe is dealing with her own crumbling marriage. But things end on a positive note for everyone.

Kim then calls a meeting with Brody and Brandon to discuss what is going on with Bruce and Kris and to make sure they’re all “on the same page,” after she read tabloid reports that her step brothers were glad their dad was splitting from Kris. “We just have to stick together as a family and keep connected,” says Kris. “And make sure that we communicate.”
