Ruben Studdard Streams Entire ‘Unconditional Love’ Album: Listen

Got 45 minutes to reminisce over the neo-soul era?

Ruben Studdard‘s newest and most romantic album, Unconditional Love, is now streaming exclusively on before its official release on February 4.

The David Foster co-produced record — which The Velvet Teddy Bear hyped as, “the kind of music my fan base from American Idol expected from me” — is flavored with renditions of timeless classics including Paul McCartney‘s “My Love,” and The Carpenters‘ masterwork, “They Long To Be (Close To You),” featuring Stevie Wonder.

“My favorite song off the record would have to be a song done by Donny Hathaway called, ‘Love, Love, Love,'” the 35-year-old reveals to “My second favorite is another song that I’m singing with his daughter [Lalah Hathaway], ‘If This World Were Mine.'”

The 11-track LP also features some of his newest compositions like his lead single, “Meant To Be,” which the former The Biggest Loser contestant debuted on the finale episode of the weight-loss competition.

Ruben is getting ready to hit the road for his Born Again tour in April with Lalah — who won a Grammy on Sunday for Best R&B Performance — and the Idol alum is also working on a Christmas album that has no official release date.
