Is Ellie Goulding’s New Song About Ed Sheeran?
On Monday, British singing sensation Ellie Goulding released the first of four songs that she wrote for the Divergent movie soundtrack. The song, entitled “Beating Heart,” has a few lyrics that suggest it was written about fellow Brit Ed Sheeran.
Rumors sparked that the two were dating late August after they were seen holding hands at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Following the awards, Ed told Washington radio station Click 98.9: “I mean, normal people don’t hold hands if they’re just friends … It was going on. And now it’s not.” However, Ellie’s response to the rumor was a bit different, and she tweeted: “I love that holding hands with my friends means we’re an item” following the show.
But after taking a closer look at the song’s lyrics, we hear something different.
In “Beating Heart,” Ellie sings “I fell for you like the autumn leaves”…and “Autumn Leaves” just so happen to be the title of a song from Ed’s first album!
Another lyrics is: “I can’t face this now everything has changed,” which could be a reference to Ed’s duet with Taylor Swift titled “Everything Has Changed.”
