Selena Gomez ‘Beyond Proud’ to Receive Young Humanitarian Award
Selena Gomez may be used to winning awards for her singing and acting, but when she was awarded the Young Humanitarian Award at Thursday’s unite4:good and Variety‘s unite4:humanity gala, she was overjoyed.
The 21-year-old was honored for her work with the children’s charity, UNICEF for which she is the youngest Goodwill Ambassador. Selena has been empowering acts of kindness and inspiring charitable acts for UNICEF as well as other charities she is involved with.
In an Instagram the “Who Says” singer posted after the event, she wrote “By far the coolest award I’ve received -Young humanitarian award! Beyond proud to represent UNICEF since I was 17”
The event, which was held at the Sony Lot in Los Angeles, honored the philanthropic work of former president Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro, Selena Gomez, Alicia Keys, Philomena Lee, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Demi Lovato, Martin Scorsese and John Sykes.
