Taylor Swift Visits Hospital and Bonds With Cancer Patient
Just when you thought you couldn’t love Taylor Swift any more!
The 24-year-old visited Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City on Saturday to visit with patients, and hopefully spread a little joy.
One of those patients was 17-year-old Shelby Huff, who spoke to the “22” year old singer about everything from her name (Taylor said that her parents almost named her Shelby, but decided against it because people would call her “She’ll be Swift”), learning to play guitar, and the new Divergent movie.
“Do you mind me asking what you are sick with?” Taylor asked Shelby, who turned it over to her mom who explained her daughter’s history of Aplastic Anemia, a bone-marrow transplant and her current diagnosis of PTLD, which is a form of lymphoma.
“I’m sorry you have to go through this at 17,” Taylor told Shelby, whose response shocked the Grammy winner. “I’d rather go through it than a little baby, you know?”
“Oh my god, that’s an incredible thing to say,” Taylor replied. “That’s probably the most courageous thing I’ve ever heard anyone say.”
The “Red” singer, who was scheduled to visit for one hour, ended up spending over five hours hanging out with patients.
