Ellie Goulding Channels ‘Divergent’ Star in ‘Beating Heart’ Video

Shailene Woodley and Theo James aren’t the only stars in Lionsgate‘s first installment of Veronica Roth‘s post-apocalyptic trilogy, Divergent!

Ellie Goulding is the musical voice of the lead character, Tris, and the British singer unveiled the music video for “Beating Heart” that captures the beautiful relationship that blossomed between Tris and Four.

In the video, joined by clips of the movie, the 27-year-old channels the strong-willed and fearless 16-year-old protagonist and finds herself in the woods after being stimulated by the blue liquid for her aptitude test, while being pursued by a tatted (and gorgeous) brunette.

As the mysterious-esque video crescendos and overlaps with clips of Tris searching the empty fields, Ellie is wandering the fog-filled woods in a silky black dress — revealing the same telltale bird tattoo as Tris on her collar bone and Four’s elaborate designs on her back —  singing the lyrics of her “beating heart”: “Wanna hear your beating heart tonight / Before the bleeding sun comes alive / I want to make the best of what is left, hold tight.”

And just before her stimulation ended, Ellie finds herself locking lips with her mysterious lover moments before she fades into the darkness.
