Ed Sheeran Serenades Fan Over the Phone After Twitter Campaign
Ed Sheeran used his healing music and therapeutic vocals to fulfill a 15-year-old girl’s dying wish moments before she passed away.
According to Independent.ie, Dublin teenager Triona Priestly — who had been battling cystic fibrosis since childhood — made a final request to hear Ed sing her favorite song, “Little Bird,” off his + album.
After friends and family trended the hashtag #SongForTri on Twitter by directly tweeting at the 23-year-old singer, Ed’s manager contacted Triona’s friend Lucy Hanon to arrange the phoner, according to People.
Minutes after the “Give Me Love” singer serenaded Triona with her favorite track over the phone, the Irish teenager lost her battle with the disease.
“Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign,” Triona’s brother Colm told Independent.ie. “What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together. Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards. So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep.”
After hearing the tragic news, Ed immediately paid tribute to Triona using Twitter on Tuesday.
Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x

In memory of the Triona, Independent.ie also reports that her classmate at Castleknock Community College remembered the late-teenager by dressing in purple — her favorite color — and by singing a few of her favorite songs.
Rest in peace Triona.
