George Clooney Engaged to Lawyer Amal Alamuddin

Never say never!

Although George Clooney has often balked at the idea of getting married again, he popped the question to his girlfriend of about six months, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, reports People magazine and E! Online.

On Monday morning, E! News’ Ken Baker called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to dish on the happy news.

“This is the celebrity romance equivalent of hell freezing over,” he joked.

But in all seriousness, “They share this passion for human rights … It seems as though he’s met someone he can be attracted to, but that they also share this passion … It’s a really cool love story.”

Engagement rumors first popped up after the 36-year-old was spotted wearing a diamond ring on Thursday while dining with the Gravity actor and his pals Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber at Nobu in Malibu. The night before, adds People, the duo celebrated their engagement with friends at Craig’s in West Hollywood.

This will be the second marriage for Clooney, who was wed to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
