Ed Sheeran Speed-Raps in Deluxe Track ‘Take It Back’ off ‘X’ Album

Ed Sheeran seems to be exploring new territory for his long-awaited sophomore album X (pronounced “multiply”).

After releasing his Pharrell-produced single, “Sing,” laced with howling falsettos and hurried verses, the 23-year-old stopped by SBTV to perform an acoustic version of his rap-heavy song “Take It Back” — the deluxe track off his forthcoming LP.

In the speed-rap-influenced song, which he originally debuted in concert, the “Give Me Love” singer drops a few lines about his personal life and makes several pop culture references by name dropping David Beckham, Jack Black, and his “enemy,” NME magazine.

Ed, who is headlining his first North American tour in August, will release his X album June 23, but fans can pre-order the record on iTunes by clicking here.
